# How enrichment works

Enrichment fills the gaps in a list: missing emails, phone numbers, LinkedIn
profiles, job titles and company data. ListPlus asks specialised providers,
keeps the best value per field, and only charges credits when data is
actually found (a few checks charge per attempt — see the price list).

## Where to start

- **The Enrich button** in the list toolbar — ready-made assistants (Company
Enrichment, Campaign-Ready, Full Profile) and single steps grouped by goal.
- **The selection bar**, after selecting rows — pick exactly which fields to
  fill for just those rows.
- **The wand icon** that appears on hover over an empty, enrichable cell —
  fills that one cell.
- **The record panel**, open on a single row — runs any single lookup for
  that contact.

See "[Which Enrich button do I use?](https://listplus.ai/en/help/enrich/which-enrich-button)" for a full decision table of when to use
each one.

## Before you run it: the plan

When you enrich selected rows from the selection bar, ListPlus shows a plan
before anything is charged: which contacts qualify, the likely route and the
most it can cost ("at most …"). That ceiling already includes the fallback
routes ListPlus tries when the first one finds nothing; with gender it says
"plus AI tokens", because AI is billed by usage. ListPlus plans every row
again when the job starts and never spends more than the "at most"; you pay
only per hit. For the details see "Enrich selected rows". The "only what
is missing" switch, on by default, lists only fields that still have gaps,
and rows that already have every chosen field are skipped. Actual cost is
usually lower, since most lookups only charge on a hit. See "[Price list: what every action costs](https://listplus.ai/en/help/plans-credits-billing/price-list)"
and "[What does one contact cost?](https://listplus.ai/en/help/plans-credits-billing/what-does-one-contact-cost)" for exact per-action prices, "Find a
verified email" for email routes, and "[Find phone and mobile numbers](https://listplus.ai/en/help/enrich/find-phone-and-mobile)" for
phone and mobile routes.

## What happens with the results

An enrichment of selected rows or of the whole list is a **run** on the
server: the rows show a running ring, and as results arrive the server
writes them into the empty cells of those rows by itself — the rule is "only
empty cells", so a cell that already has a value, including one you typed,
is not overwritten (⌘Z / Ctrl+Z undoes a fill). There is no prompt to
confirm. Every value also stays in a data layer next to the row, so you can
take it over later or review it record by record — see "[Fill empty cells
with enrichment data](https://listplus.ai/en/help/enrich/fill-empty-cells)". One rule picks the value per field: the most recent
job title and company, a working address at the current company, a mobile
before a landline, otherwise the most reliable source.

## Good to know

- You don't have to wait: a run continues on the server when you close the
tab or switch lists. The task indicator at the top shows its progress, and
the rows keep their ring until they are done. FullEnrich lookups are sent
in bulk and can take a few minutes for a large list.
- A run that cannot continue stops and says why — not enough credits, the
provider is not answering, or the maximum you accepted at the start is
reached. Nothing is lost: click **Continue** in the task indicator, or start
the same enrichment again — rows already enriched are not charged again.
- If a row was already enriched but its cells stayed empty, "Apply values" in
the Enrich menu, or **Take over** next to a value in the record panel,
writes the stored data into the cells for free.
- Repeating a LinkedIn, company or person lookup that already found data is
usually served from ListPlus's cache at no cost.
- Your own edits are written automatically before an enrichment starts. The
Enrich menu only blocks while AI suggestions are open — Apply or Discard
  them first.
- In a workspace, enrichment spends the **workspace owner's** credits (see
"[Credits, plan and limits in a workspace](https://listplus.ai/en/help/workspaces/billing-in-workspaces)"). If that balance runs out during a run, the run
stops and the remaining rows aren't charged; after a top-up, start it
again — see "[Enrichment runs: progress, limits and stopped runs](https://listplus.ai/en/help/enrich/running-jobs-and-limits)".
- Checks in Analyze are free and show you which rows are ready and which
  need enrichment first.

## FAQ

### How do I enrich my list?

Click Enrich in the list toolbar and choose an assistant such as Campaign-Ready or a single step such as Company Lookup, or select rows first and use the selection bar. The selection bar's dialog shows the most it can cost ("at most") before it starts and Enrich menu entries show their price; lookups charge only on a hit. See "[Which Enrich button do I use?](https://listplus.ai/en/help/enrich/which-enrich-button)" for the right entry point.

### Which data can enrichment add?

Company data (industry, size, location, website, LinkedIn page), LinkedIn profiles, verified emails, company and personal mobile numbers, and email verification results. Free local clean-ups (like formatting phone numbers) and AI-derived fields such as gender or seniority are also available from the Enrich button.

### What does enrichment cost?

Most enrichments cost credits, from a small amount for an email check up to a much higher price for a deep email-and-phone search; e-mail and phone lookups only charge when they actually find something, while searches and imports are charged per run. See "[Price list: what every action costs](https://listplus.ai/en/help/plans-credits-billing/price-list)" for the full table and "[What does one contact cost?](https://listplus.ai/en/help/plans-credits-billing/what-does-one-contact-cost)" for the cheapest route to an email or phone.

### Why were my cells not filled after the enrichment?

A run fills only empty cells, and rows with a ring are still being worked on. If a run stopped early (credits, provider, or your accepted maximum), click Continue in the task indicator (or start it again) for the rest. For rows enriched earlier whose cells stayed empty, select them, open the Enrich menu and click "Apply values" ("Fill empty" tab); see "[Fill empty cells with enrichment data](https://listplus.ai/en/help/enrich/fill-empty-cells)".

### What does the enrichment need to work?

At least one identifier per row: an email or domain for company data, a LinkedIn URL or a name plus company for person data. ListPlus picks the best available input automatically and skips rows that have nothing usable.

### Why does the same enrichment cost nothing the second time?

LinkedIn profile, company and person lookups that already returned data are kept in ListPlus's cache for a while — person lookups (Prospeo, FullEnrich) for 7 days in your workspace. Running them again is served from the cache and shows as cached in the progress, without spending credits. Lookups that found nothing are run again.

### Can I enrich a single contact instead of the whole list?

Yes. Select just that row and use Enrich, or click the wand icon that appears on hover over an empty, enrichable cell to fill only that one field. The record panel also lets you run any single lookup for one contact.

### Which source wins when several providers return different values?

One rule picks the value per field: the most recent job title and company, a working address at the current company, a mobile before a landline, otherwise the most reliable source. Filling never overwrites a cell you typed, unless you set a list rule's Enrich "Cells" setting to overwrite. If a different provider value suits you better, edit the cell directly. See "[When enrichment sources disagree, which value is offered?](https://listplus.ai/en/help/data-sources-privacy-legal/which-source-wins)"

### Can I close the tab while an enrichment is running?

Yes. The run continues on the server and fills the empty cells as results arrive; when you come back, the task indicator shows the progress or result and unfinished rows show their ring. A run that stopped early tells you why, and Continue (or starting it again) goes on with the rows that are left.

### How do I know which button to click to enrich?

It depends on scope: the Enrich button for a ready-made assistant or the whole list, the selection bar to pick exact fields for selected rows, the wand icon for one empty cell, and the record panel for one contact. See "[Which Enrich button do I use?](https://listplus.ai/en/help/enrich/which-enrich-button)" for the full decision table.
