# Getting AI Research hits into a list automatically

Instead of reviewing matches yourself and adding them by hand, AI Research
can hand qualifying hits over to a list on its own, as they're found — for
a ListPlus-run research or for one your own AI reports into.

## Turning it on

In a new research, step 2 (**Set up the research**) asks **Automatically
add new matches to a list?** Tick **Yes, add them as they are found** and
pick an existing list or a new one, named after your description. Left
off, matches stay in the research for you to review and add by hand.

On a run that already exists, a band above the matches reads **Add hits to
a list automatically** (or **Hits go to … automatically** with **Change**).
There you choose between **Keep in the research – you add them to a list by
hand later** and a list, on a run in progress or after it finishes, at any
time. A research with a target list also counts as a way into that list in
**Flows**: its new hits show there as records that came in.

## Only the fit matters, and duplicates stay out

Every hit is rated with a fit score from 0 to 100 and a one-line reason,
judging how well it matches your brief on role, company, place and
signal. With automatic hand-off on, **Add** lets you choose **All
matches**, **Decent matches and better** (fit 50+), **Good matches and
better** (70+) or **Only very good matches** (85+); everything below the
bar stays in the research. What counts as a
record needs at least a name plus a company, a domain or a LinkedIn URL —
duplicates, and hits missing that much, stay out of the list and keep
waiting in the research instead.

## The stop target counts what actually landed

With a target list chosen, **Stop after** switches from counting matches to
counting **new records actually added to that list** — hits that don't
clear the fit bar, or turn out to be duplicates, don't count toward it.
Without a target list, a run holds at most 200 matches in total; with one,
the ceiling rises to 1,000, since the list itself absorbs and dedupes
everything instead of the run's own memory.

## The research is kept for 30 days

A research with automatic hand-off to a list switched on is kept for
30 days instead of the usual 1 to 7 — it becomes a standing research, so
the list can still show where a row came from, while the list itself is
the permanent home for what it finds. Its link lasts as long. Turning
hand-off back to "Keep in the research" doesn't shorten the window again for a run that already went standing.

## FAQ

### How do I get AI Research hits into a list without adding them by hand?

In step 2 of a new research, answer **Automatically add new matches to a list?** with **Yes, add them as they are found** and choose an existing list or a new one (on a run that exists, use the band above the matches). From then on, every qualifying hit is added to that list automatically as it's found.

### What is a fit score, and how do I use it to filter hand-offs?

Every hit gets a fit score from 0 to 100 with a one-line reason, rating how well it matches your brief. With automatic hand-off on, use **Add** to send only **Decent matches and better** (50+), **Good matches and better** (70+) or **Only very good matches** (85+), or leave it on **All matches** to send every hit.

### Can duplicates end up in my list from AI Research?

No — a hit needs at least a name plus a company, a domain or a LinkedIn URL to count as a record, and duplicates of what's already in the list are kept out automatically. Anything that doesn't qualify stays in the research instead of going to the list.

### Does "Stop after" count the same way with a target list chosen?

No — with a target list, the stop number counts new records actually added to that list, not every hit the agent finds; a hit that fails the fit bar or turns out to be a duplicate doesn't count toward it. Without a target list, it counts the hits themselves.

### Does turning on automatic hand-off change how many matches a run can hold?

Yes — a run without a target list holds at most 200 matches in total, while one with automatic hand-off on can go up to 1,000, since the list absorbs and dedupes the hits instead of the run's own memory.

### Does a research with automatic hand-off still expire after 7 days?

Not after 7 — once automatic hand-off to a list is on, the research becomes standing and is kept for 30 days, since the list is its permanent record and the research only needs to outlive the hand-off. A run you never turned hand-off on for still expires after the 1 to 7 days you chose.

### Can I turn automatic hand-off on for a research that's already running?

Yes — use the band above the matches (**Add hits to a list automatically**, or **Change** once a list is set), on a run in progress or even after it finishes. The choice applies to new hits from that point on and doesn't re-file matches found earlier.

### Can I still add matches to a list by hand if I don't turn hand-off on?

Yes — the default, **Keep in the research – you add them to a list by hand later**, leaves every hit in the research for you to tick and click **Add to list** yourself, exactly as before; automatic hand-off is optional.
