# Letting your own AI research for you ("Your AI")

**Your AI** is a second way to run an AI Research: instead of ListPlus's own
agent, you hand the job to an AI assistant you already use — Claude,
ChatGPT or an agent of your own — through a private link. It searches on
its own and reports what it finds straight into your ListPlus research
cockpit.

## Setting it up

Open **Find** in the left navigation, then **AI Research** in the switch at
the top right. Describe the leads as usual, then under **Who should
search?** pick **Your AI** instead of
ListPlus. Choose what it should collect — **Contacts**, **Companies** or
**Custom fields** (a custom collection lets you name your own item and, if
useful, a field that spots duplicates) — and click **Generate URL**.
ListPlus shows the link plus an MCP URL and a ready-to-paste instruction;
copy any of them into your assistant and it takes it from there. This
entity choice — Contacts, Companies or Custom fields — only exists in Your
AI mode; a ListPlus-run research decides person vs. company on its own.

## What it costs

Reported matches are free. You pay only for the paid tools you switch on:
database, LinkedIn people, LinkedIn posts, Reddit, X, the e-mail check
(per address) and Enrich (per hit) — each charged at its own price — and all of it counts against the spending cap you set (a
choice of several amounts) so your AI can never spend more than you agreed
to. All prices are in "[Price list: what every action costs](https://listplus.ai/en/help/plans-credits-billing/price-list)." With Find LinkedIn on (the default), your AI also gets a
free lookup to ground a real LinkedIn profile before reporting a match, at
no extra cost. If a verification check itself fails, that charge is
refunded automatically — see "[Automatic credit refunds](https://listplus.ai/en/help/plans-credits-billing/refunds)."

## Enriching a hit needs a target list

Enrich only works on a hit that has already reached a target list — turn
on automatic hand-off to a list (see "[Getting AI Research hits into a list
automatically](https://listplus.ai/en/help/find-contacts/research-results-to-a-list)") before your AI tries to enrich anything; without one, the
Enrich call is rejected and nothing is charged.

## How long it runs, and how long results stay

Your AI gets roughly 24 hours to search and report before its link stops
accepting new results; anything it already reported stays. Separately,
you choose how long the whole research is kept in your cockpit under
**Link valid for** — 1, 3 or 7 days, after which it's deleted
automatically. With automatic hand-off to a list, both the link and the
research last 30 days instead (the records themselves live on in the
list). Without hand-off, hand the link to your assistant soon after
generating it, since the 24-hour work window doesn't get longer just
because the keep-time is longer.

## Shared with your workspace

A Your AI research is stored like any other research: it appears in the
research list of your workspace, every member sees it and its matches, and
a run a colleague set up shows their name. Email verification and Enrich
charges go to the workspace owner's credit balance. If the person who
generated the link leaves the workspace, the link stops accepting results.

## Keep the link private

Anyone holding the link can add results to this one research, and use its
credit cap for any paid tool you switched on, without signing in. It gives no
access to the rest of your account. Treat it like a password: only paste
it into the AI assistant or tool you intend to use, and delete the
research if you think it leaked — deleting it also disables the link
immediately.

## FAQ

### What is "Your AI" in AI Research?

A way to run a research with an AI assistant you already use — such as Claude or ChatGPT — instead of ListPlus's own agent. You get a private link; your assistant searches on its own and reports matches back into the same research cockpit.

### How do I set up a research for my own AI?

In AI Research, describe your target group, choose Your AI under "Who should search," pick what to collect, and click Generate URL. Copy the link, the MCP URL, or the ready-made instruction next to it into your AI assistant and it takes over from there.

### What can my AI collect — only people?

Contacts, Companies or Custom fields (your own item type, with an optional field for spotting duplicates) — this three-way choice only exists in Your AI mode; a ListPlus-run research decides person vs. company by itself.

### Does letting my own AI research cost credits?

Reported matches are free. You pay only for the paid tools you switch on: database, LinkedIn people, LinkedIn posts, Reddit, X, the e-mail check (per address) and Enrich (per hit). All of it counts against a spending cap you set, and each tool's price is shown beside its switch.

### Can my AI fill in missing details on a hit it already reported?

Yes, with Enrich turned on — it completes a reported hit with real provider data such as email, phone, LinkedIn or job title, for a charge per hit that has its own ceiling and never exceeds your spending cap. Enrich only works once that hit has reached a target list, so turn on automatic hand-off to a list first.

### How long does my AI have to search, and how long do results stay?

Your AI has roughly 24 hours from generating the link to search and report; after that, new results are rejected. Separately, you pick how long the whole research is kept afterwards — 1, 3 or 7 days — With automatic hand-off to a list, both the link and the research last 30 days instead.

### Can my teammates see a research my own AI ran?

Yes — a Your AI research is stored in your workspace like any other research, so every member sees it and its matches in the AI Research list, marked with the name of the person who set it up. Verification and Enrich charges go to the workspace owner's credit balance, and the link stops accepting results if the person who generated it leaves the workspace.

### What happens if an email verification check fails?

The credit it cost is refunded automatically, both from the research's spending cap and your balance — see "[Automatic credit refunds](https://listplus.ai/en/help/plans-credits-billing/refunds)" for details.

### Is the link safe to hand to an AI tool?

Anyone holding the link can add results to this one research, and use its credit cap for any paid tool you switched on, without signing in — but it gives no access to the rest of your account. Treat it like a password: only give it to the assistant you intend to use, and delete the research if you think it got out, which also disables the link immediately.
