# Export and sync problems

This article covers export and sync failures specifically. For how exporting,
connecting and syncing normally work, see "[Exporting your list](https://listplus.ai/en/help/export-sync-integrations/export-overview)," "[Connecting
a CRM, spreadsheet or other app](https://listplus.ai/en/help/export-sync-integrations/connect-crm-and-sheets)" and "[Keeping a connected list in sync](https://listplus.ai/en/help/export-sync-integrations/sync-overview)."

## "Export failed"

If an export doesn't go through, you'll see "Export failed. Please try
again." and the wizard returns you to the step where you can adjust it.
Retry first; if it keeps failing for the same destination, reconnect that
destination's account and try again, or contact support.

## Columns missing from an export

Check the column step in the export wizard — a column may simply be
unchecked. Also remember export only sends what's actually saved in the
list's cells: a run fills empty cells itself, but data a single-cell or
record-panel enrichment found that you haven't accepted via "Fill empty
cells?", or values stored for a cell that already had content, are left out
for most destinations — see "[Exporting your list](https://listplus.ai/en/help/export-sync-integrations/export-overview)" for the exceptions.

## CRM field mapping looks wrong

For HubSpot, open **Field Mapping** in the export wizard and check or
change the dropdown for each column — an unmapped column is skipped, not
sent with a guessed field. Google Sheets, Lemlist, Instantly and Smartlead
don't have a mapping step; see "[Exporting to HubSpot and Google Sheets](https://listplus.ai/en/help/export-sync-integrations/export-to-hubspot-and-sheets)" and
"[Sending contacts to Lemlist, Instantly and Smartlead](https://listplus.ai/en/help/export-sync-integrations/send-to-sequencers)" for how each one
matches your columns.

## Rows skipped or marked failed

HubSpot and the sequencers (Lemlist, Instantly, Smartlead) need an email
address, read from your column named **email**. A row without one isn't
sent — HubSpot, Lemlist and Instantly count it as "failed" in the result
message; Smartlead leaves it out of its count.

## "Write to …" or "Sync failed"

The button **Write to {source}** in the Changes panel (for example **Write to
HubSpot**; **Sync** in the status bar opens it) only works for lists created
by connecting Google Sheets, HubSpot, Notion, Salesforce or Attio (Attio:
lists imported from People or Companies, not from "A list"). If Attio refuses
a value (a select that is not an option, a phone without "+" and country
code, a "Country" that is not a two-letter code), the change stays open with
Attio's reason. Your own edits are already saved; open AI suggestions are
not — click **Apply** or **Discard** in the list header first, then try
again.

If the source changed a field after you edited it, nothing is written yet:
the panel says "{source} has changed in the meantime", marks those changes
("{source} now holds: … – the list takes that") — the source wins — and
**Write anyway** writes all the other changes.

## FAQ

### I got "Export failed" — what do I do?

Try the export again; this usually means the request to that destination didn't complete. If it keeps failing for the same destination, reconnect that account (HubSpot, Google, Lemlist and so on) from the export wizard and try once more.

### Some columns are missing from my export

Check that the column is checked on the export wizard's column step. If the missing values were found by Enrich but never filled into the cells (a run fills empty cells itself; single-cell enrichments ask first, and a cell that already had content keeps it), fill them in first with "Apply values" in the Enrich menu — see "[Exporting your list](https://listplus.ai/en/help/export-sync-integrations/export-overview)" for which destinations fill enrichment data automatically instead.

### My HubSpot field mapping looks wrong

Open the Field Mapping section in the export wizard and check or change the dropdown for each column yourself — ListPlus only suggests a mapping, and any column left unmapped is skipped rather than guessed.

### Why were some rows skipped or marked "failed" in my export?

HubSpot and the sequencers (Lemlist, Instantly, Smartlead) match and create contacts by email, read from your column named email. A row without one isn't sent — HubSpot, Lemlist and Instantly count it as "failed" in the result message; Smartlead leaves it out of its count.

### Writing changes back says "Sync failed" — what happened?

Only stored data is pushed, so Apply or Discard any open AI suggestions in the list header and wait until the save status shows Saved, then try again. If the panel instead says the source "has changed in the meantime", those fields changed in the source after your edit: the list takes the source's value for them, and Write anyway writes all your other changes.

### I don't see a "Write to HubSpot" (or other source) button on my list

The button appears in the Changes panel only for the workspace's owner and admins, and only on lists created by connecting a source that supports sync back — see "[Keeping a connected list in sync](https://listplus.ai/en/help/export-sync-integrations/sync-overview)" for the list of sources. If you're a member, ask an owner or admin of the workspace to write the changes back.

### Why can't I sync or reload a connected list in my workspace?

A connected account belongs to the workspace it was connected in, so every member can use Reload, but the Changes panel's "Write to …" button is only shown to the workspace's owner and admins. If Reload says "This data source was connected in another workspace and can only be reloaded there.", switch to that workspace, or export the list and import it where you need it. See "[Keeping a connected list in sync](https://listplus.ai/en/help/export-sync-integrations/sync-overview)."

### Sync, reload or export says a higher plan is needed, what now?

Connected systems need the Pro plan, or Premium for HubSpot and the Premium sources, and the message "Connected systems need the Pro plan…" (or "…the Premium plan…") means the workspace owner's plan no longer covers it. The owner can upgrade under Settings → Plan; the accounts stay connected, so sync, reload and export work again at once, and an automatic refresh resumes by itself.

### Sync, reload or export stops with "not enough credits" — why?

Every request to a connected tool costs credits from the workspace owner's balance, so sync, reload, export and the automatic refresh stop when it is empty. Top up and start again; an automatic refresh resumes by itself after the top-up.
