# Saving is automatic: undo and AI suggestions

ListPlus saves your own edits in a list automatically, about one second after
you make them. There is no Save button any more. What the AI writes into
cells is different: it stays a highlighted **suggestion** until you click
**Apply** (Übernehmen) or **Discard** (Verwerfen).

## What is saved automatically

Everything you do yourself in the grid: typed cells, paste, fill-handle
drags, find & replace, new rows (**New row**), deleted rows, and bulk actions
you confirm — taking data over from another list, Clean Phone Numbers, a
duplicate merge, or an in-cell enrich that fills a value after the "Fill
empty cells?" dialog. The cells an enrichment run fills on the server are
stored directly as well. Leaving the page, reloading or
switching lists right after an edit still saves it.

## The save status in the header

Where the Save button used to be, the list header shows a quiet status:

- a check icon and **Saved** (Gespeichert) — everything is stored;
- a spinner and **Saving …** (Speichert …) — an edit is on its way;
- a red **Not saved** (Nicht gespeichert) — the server can't be reached. Your
edits are kept in the page and sent again automatically; you see "Changes
could not be saved – retrying automatically", later "Changes saved".

On narrow headers and phones only the icon shows. The tooltip reads
"Changes are saved automatically. Undo with ⌘Z / Ctrl+Z."

## Undo and redo

The **Undo** button sits next to the status; **Redo** appears beside it
right after an undo. Shortcuts: ⌘Z /
Ctrl+Z to undo, ⇧⌘Z / Ctrl+Y to redo, while a cell is selected but not being
edited (inside a cell editor, the text field's own undo applies).

One step is one action: a typed cell, a whole paste or fill-handle drag,
added rows, deleted rows (they come back complete, in the same place, with
their enrichment data), a whole **Apply** of AI suggestions, or a confirmed
bulk fill. Undo writes the old values back and saves them like any edit, so
teammates, triggers and the change history see it. If a cell was changed in
the meantime by someone else or by an enrichment, it is left alone and a
notice says "N cells were changed in the meantime and stay as they are".

The undo history is per list and per browser session and reaches the last
100 actions. It is cleared when you switch to another list or reload the
page. Discarding AI suggestions is not an undo step.

## AI suggestions: Apply or Discard

What the Prompts panel (KI-Anweisung) writes, and the
text corrections of **Fix** / **Fix all** in the Analyze panel, are not
written right away. The cells get a light orange background, the row number
is highlighted, and the header shows **N suggestions** with two buttons:

- **Discard** — every suggested cell goes back to its previous value.
- **Apply · N** — all suggestions are written to the list (toast "N changes
applied"); this is one undo step. On narrow headers the Apply button shows
  just the number.

Click a highlighted cell to see a tooltip "AI suggestion – before:" with the
previous value and **Discard** / **Apply** for that one cell. Typing your own
value into a suggested cell replaces the suggestion — it's your edit then and
is saved automatically. The **Suggestions** chip in the status bar filters
the grid to rows with open suggestions.

## Leaving the list

Saved edits never hold you back. A dialog opens on leaving in two cases
only: open AI suggestions — **Open AI suggestions** ("The AI suggested
changes that have not been applied yet. Apply, discard or stay on the
page?") with **Stay here**, **Discard** and **Apply** — or edits that
could not be saved yet (the header shows **Not saved**), where the dialog
"Changes not saved yet" offers **Save again** or **Leave without saving**.
Leaving anyway loses those suggestions or unsaved edits.

## Checks, segments, exports and enrichment

Analyze checks, the export wizard and **Export Data** read the stored list.
Your own edits are there within a second; AI suggestions only after
**Apply**. Sublists (segments) follow the grid as you see it, live. **Export as Excel** in the ⋯ menu downloads
the grid as you see it, suggestions included.

Before an enrichment starts, pending edits are written first automatically.
An enrichment is blocked only while AI suggestions are open or edits could
not be saved — see enrichment-problems.

## Do others see my edits?

Yes. Your edits are stored for everyone who opens the list about a second
after you make them. AI suggestions stay in your own browser until you apply
them.

## FAQ

### Does ListPlus autosave my list?

Yes. Your own edits — typed cells, paste, fill handle, new and deleted rows, and bulk fills you confirm — are saved automatically about one second after you make them; there is no Save button any more. Only AI suggestions wait for you to click Apply in the list header.

### Where did the Save button go?

It was replaced by a save status in the list header: a check icon with "Saved", a spinner with "Saving …", or a red "Not saved" when the server can't be reached. On narrow screens only the icon shows. There is nothing to click — edits are saved automatically.

### What does "Not saved" in the list header mean?

The connection to the server is down, so your latest edits could not be written yet. They are kept in the page and sent again automatically; a toast "Changes saved" confirms when it worked. Keep the tab open until the status shows Saved again.

### Why did my changes disappear?

Your own edits are saved about a second after you make them, also when you leave, reload or switch lists right afterwards — so they don't disappear. AI suggestions are different: if you clicked Discard in the "Open AI suggestions" dialog or in the header, those cells went back to their previous values.

### How do I undo a change in a list?

Click Undo in the list header or press ⌘Z / Ctrl+Z while a cell is selected (not being edited); Redo is ⇧⌘Z / Ctrl+Y. One step is one action — a typed cell, a whole paste or fill-handle drag, added or deleted rows, an Apply of AI suggestions, or a confirmed bulk fill. Undo saves the old values back automatically.

### How far back does undo go?

Up to the last 100 actions, per list and per browser session. The history is cleared when you switch to another list or reload the page, so undo right away if you regret something.

### Why did undo leave some cells unchanged?

If a cell was changed in the meantime by a teammate or by an enrichment, undo leaves it alone so it doesn't overwrite newer data. A notice tells you how many cells were changed in the meantime and stay as they are.

### What are the highlighted orange cells?

They are AI suggestions from the Prompts panel or Fix / Fix all — not written to the list yet. Click one to see "AI suggestion – before:" with the previous value and Apply or Discard for that cell, or use Apply · N / Discard in the list header for all of them.

### How do I apply or discard all AI suggestions at once?

The list header shows "N suggestions" with Discard and Apply · N. Apply writes them all to the list as one undo step; Discard puts every suggested cell back to its previous value.

### Is there a keyboard shortcut to save?

You don't need one — edits are saved automatically about a second after you make them. The Save entry in the command palette (⌘K) only writes pending edits right away, which normally means there is nothing to do.

### Why does ListPlus ask about open AI suggestions when I leave a list?

Because the AI suggested changes you haven't applied yet. The "Open AI suggestions" dialog offers Stay here, Discard or Apply. The only other time a dialog stops you is when your last edits could not be saved yet (the header shows "Not saved") — it then offers Save again or Leave without saving; leaving loses them.

### Do I need to save before enriching my list?

No. Pending edits are written automatically before an enrichment starts. The Enrich menu only blocks while AI suggestions are open or edits could not be saved — apply or discard the suggestions, or wait until the header shows Saved.

### Will Analyze show my changes right away?

Your own edits are stored within a second, so Re-run Analysis in Analysis settings picks them up. AI suggestions are only checked after you click Apply. The export wizard reads the stored list the same way. Sublists follow the grid live.

### Can other people see my changes?

Yes, your own edits — they are stored for everyone who opens the list about a second after you make them. AI suggestions stay in your browser until you click Apply.
