Company data: by domain vs by name
Company Lookup fills in company details — industry, size, website and more — for rows that already have a company domain. For rows without a domain, the Company Enrichment wizard can search by company name instead.
By domain vs by name#
In the Enrich menu, Company Lookup works by domain only: it uses the domain from your email, domain or website column. Personal addresses such as Gmail are skipped. To search by company name when there is no domain, run the Company Enrichment wizard (Enrich menu → ENRICHMENT WIZARDS) or use the single-cell fill window on an empty company cell. A name-based match is less certain than a domain match, especially for short or generic company names, so check that the company it found is actually the one you meant before relying on the result. See "Price list: what every action costs" for the exact credits and when they're charged.
The logo next to a company name in a list comes from the row's domain column, or else from the domain of its e-mail address; an address at a personal mail provider (Gmail, Outlook, iCloud, GMX, web.de and similar) gives no logo, and an empty company cell does not show that mail provider's domain as a grey hint.
What fields it fills#
Company name, domain, website, industry, employee count and LinkedIn company URL, plus address (street, postal code, city, state, country), metrics (revenue, founded year, company type, description, NAICS code) and social links (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, logo). Pick exactly which of these you want from the selection bar's Enrich → Company → field groups.
The cache#
Company data is the same for every ListPlus customer who looks up the same domain, so a shared, free cache serves repeat lookups of a domain without calling the provider again — see "Where does the data come from?" for how that cache works and how long your own repeat lookups elsewhere (like LinkedIn) stay free.

FAQ#
Does Company Lookup work by domain or by company name?#
In the Enrich menu, Company Lookup works by domain only: it uses the domain from your email, domain or website column, and personal addresses such as Gmail are skipped. To search by company name when there is no domain, run the Company Enrichment wizard (Enrich menu → ENRICHMENT WIZARDS) or use the single-cell fill window on an empty company cell.
Is a name-based company lookup as accurate as a domain-based one?#
It's less certain, especially for short or generic company names where several companies could share a similar name. Always check that the company returned is actually the one you meant before you rely on the result.
What fields does Company Lookup add?#
Company name, domain, website, industry, employee count and LinkedIn company URL, plus optional address, revenue/founding/classification, and social profile fields you can pick individually from the selection bar's field picker.
Where do I run a company lookup?#
The Enrich menu's "Company Lookup" step fills company fields for rows with a domain. For rows without one, run the Company Enrichment wizard (Enrich menu → ENRICHMENT WIZARDS), which also tries by name, or use the single-cell fill window on an empty company cell. The selection bar's Enrich lets you pick exactly which company fields to fill for selected rows.
Why did a company lookup return nothing?#
The row needs a usable domain (from an email, domain or website column) to search with. Rows with a personal email address (Gmail, Outlook …) and no company domain are skipped by Company Lookup; run the Company Enrichment wizard instead to try a name-based search.
Why didn't ListPlus fill "Google" as the company for a gmail.com address?#
Free-mail domains (Gmail, Outlook and similar) are never sent to a company lookup, because the domain says nothing about the person's employer and would write the mail provider's name. The cell stays empty rather than getting a wrong company.
Can I enrich company data for contacts with only a personal email?#
Not from the address itself. Add a company name or a website column for those rows, then use the Company Enrichment wizard or a name-based lookup.
Why is the company name shorter than on LinkedIn?#
Text after a spaced bullet, pipe or middle dot is treated as a tagline and dropped, so "AIRRANGE • Turn Spreadsheets into Code" becomes "AIRRANGE". A hyphen is kept, because it belongs to names like "Smith - Jones LLP". If a company cell in your list still carries a tagline (an imported one, or one after a hyphen), the Analyze check "Tagline in Company Name" flags it and its Fix removes it.
Is repeating a company lookup free the second time?#
Often, yes. When ListPlus already has current data for a domain, the lookup is served from ListPlus's company cache and costs nothing.
Can I get funding or technology data on top of the basic company profile?#
Yes — "Company Profile Crunchbase" in the Enrich menu adds funding rounds, technology stack and growth signals on top of the basic company profile; see the price list for its cost.
