Your first 10 minutes with ListPlus
The fastest way to see what ListPlus does is the built-in sample list. It is already loaded with realistic — and deliberately incomplete — contact data, so you can see what the checks find in a minute. Then you create a list of your own and go from "empty account" to "checked, enriched, exported list" in about ten minutes.
1. Sign up (or just look around first)#
You can browse the app without an account — including the shared sample list and its checks (step 2). The moment you want your own list, save anything or spend credits, ListPlus asks you to sign in: enter your email address and a one-time code sent to it — no password, no credit card. A new account comes with starting credits — enough for everything in this walkthrough.
2. Open the sample list#
To look first (no account, free): on the Home page, the "Try a sample list first" card ("Just looking around? Try a sample list." without an account) has an Open sample list button; the Lists page shows the same offer as "Just want to look around?", and the New List page has it at the top. The button opens the shared Sample contacts list — 247 business contacts across 21 columns, with gaps and mistakes built in on purpose (missing company names and domains, missing job titles and genders, a few malformed email addresses, a couple of generic addresses like info@ and admin@). The checks open by themselves and run live. This list is view only: a banner at the top says so, and Create your own list takes you on.
The sample is shared by everyone and never changes; opening it never copies anything into your workspace. Its banner reads "Sample list: Try the checks – edit and enrich in your own list." To fix, enrich and export (steps 5 to 10), click Create your own list and import your own data.
3. Get your bearings#
Three things in the list's header are all you need to start:
- Find & evaluate — the field in the middle of the header, for searching the table or picking a goal to rate your data against.
- Four quick buttons — one click opens Analyze (checks data quality and selects rows), Record (every field of one contact), Enrich (finds emails, companies and contacts) or Triggers (rules that act on new or changed rows).
- Everything else in one place — click More (the grid icon with a caret) to open sublists, change history, columns, prompts, automation and the dashboard.
4. See what needs fixing#
The Analyze panel opens and runs automatically — no button needed. It opens on All checks; pick Overview in the category menu to see a quality score, a distribution of contacts from excellent to unusable, and a list of checks such as "Company missing", "Job title missing" or "Invalid email format", each showing how many rows it affects. Running the checks is free, and the optional Include AI Analysis setting (off by default) is marked in the app as using credits.
5. Create your own list#
Click Create your own list in the sample banner (or New List) and import your own file. Or start an empty list: choose its columns, then pick Enter data yourself → Open table and type or paste rows straight into the table. Click Analyze to see your list's checks, as in step 4. Importing a file costs credits (every price: "Price list: what every action costs").
6. Fix the quick wins#
Checks that can be corrected automatically (like capitalization or stray characters) are collected under Fixes in the category menu, each with a Fix button (Fix all is in the dialog view, Open as dialog). Clicking it applies the correction to every matching row; this doesn't cost credits. The corrected cells show up highlighted as suggestions — nothing is written yet.
7. Apply the fixes#
Click Apply · N in the list header to write the suggestions to the list, or Discard to drop them. Your own edits (typing, paste, new rows) need nothing — they are saved automatically about a second after you make them. If you try to leave with suggestions still open, ListPlus asks: Apply, Discard or Cancel (to stay on the page).
8. Pick a goal#
In the Find & evaluate field, choose the Cold Email evaluation — a saved set of rules for what a contact needs to be ready for a specific job. Every row is instantly rated ready, enrichable (something needed for cold email is missing but can be looked up) or unusable, and a bar lets you filter by each status (details: "Is my list ready for cold email, CRM or calling?").
9. Enrich a handful of rows#
To try enrichment without spending much, tick the checkbox next to 5 rows (pick some from the "enrichable" filter) and click Enrich in the selection bar that appears. A dialog titled Enrich ("5 contacts · choose what you want to enrich") lists fields to tick, grouped under Person, Company and Tasks & analyses — for example Company under Company data or Email under Contact details. As you tick data fields, the footer shows the maximum cost for the fields you picked, for the 5 contacts (this covers the data fields, not separate tasks like Verify email); click Next, then Start enrichment. Most lookups are only charged when they find something; a few checks, like Verify email, cost a small amount per clear result.
As results arrive, ListPlus fills the empty cells by itself — there is no extra dialog. It only touches cells that were empty and never overwrites data you already have, and the filled cells are saved automatically.
10. Export your result#
Export lives in a separate ⋯ icon button at the far right of the header (not the More button from step 3). Open it and choose Export as Excel for an instant download of the current list. For other formats and destinations — CSV, JSON, Google Sheets, HubSpot and more — choose Export Data in the same menu (or Export Wizard from the command palette, ⌘K) to open the export wizard, which lets you export a selection, a filtered view or the whole list.
What this costs in total#
- Importing your own file: costs credits, plus a small amount of AI credit for automatic column detection. Looking at the sample list costs nothing.
- Checks and fixes: free, and the optional Include AI Analysis setting (off by default) is marked in the app as using credits.
- Applying fixes and picking an evaluation: free.
- Enriching 5 rows: the cost depends on which fields you tick. If you tick Company and Email for 5 contacts, expect a modest number of credits for this whole walkthrough. Company data by domain is the cheapest lookup, a verified email with company phone costs more (only if found), and a full contact profile from an email costs more again. Most lookups are only charged when they find something; a few checks, like Verify email, are charged per clear result. A mobile number is charged per hit and costs several times the price of an email, so ticking Phone/Mobile for 5 contacts can use more than your starting credits. The Enrich dialog shows the maximum cost for the data fields you pick before you confirm (every price: "Price list: what every action costs").
- Exporting: free.
All told, importing a small file plus a Company/Email enrichment test on 5 rows typically uses only a part of your starting credits — richer fields like Mobile can use more.
If something looks different#
- If you already have lists, the Home page shows your list grid instead of the empty-state card; the sample is then behind Open the sample list at the top of New List.
For advanced users#
The Analyze panel's checks, the evaluation ratings and the selection-bar enrichment plan are all computed live from the current grid state, so re-running any step after an edit (including Fix all) recalculates the numbers you see.

FAQ#
What should I do first in ListPlus?#
Start with the built-in sample list: click Open sample list on the Home page to see what the checks find in a ready-made contact list (no account needed). It is view only, so then click Create your own list in its banner and import your own data to fix, enrich and export.
Where do I find the sample list?#
Click Open sample list on the Home page ("Try a sample list first"), Open a sample list on the Lists page ("Just want to look around?") or the same button at the top of the New List page: it opens the shared Sample contacts (247 rows with deliberate gaps), view only, with the checks running. Opening it never copies anything into your workspace.
Does opening the sample list cost credits?#
No. Opening the shared sample list is free and needs no account. A new account comes with starting credits, which you use when you import and enrich your own list.
Why is the sample list missing so much data?#
It's on purpose: most rows in the sample contacts are missing company name and domain, and some are missing job title, gender, or have a malformed or generic (info@, admin@) email address. This lets you see what the Analyze checks catch and what enrichment can fill in, before you try it on your own list.
What should I do with the errors in the sample list?#
Open the Analyze panel (it opens and runs automatically) to see the issues listed by check; in the sample list you can only look, so do the fixing in your own list: choose Fixes in the category menu and use Fix (or Fix all in the dialog view) wherever it's offered to correct them for free, then click Apply in the list header to keep the corrections. Anything left over — like the missing company names and domains — you look up afterwards with Enrich.
Which rows should I enrich when I first try it?#
In your own list, pick the "enrichable" filter after choosing an evaluation like Cold Email, then select just a handful of rows (for example 5) instead of the whole list. ListPlus shows the maximum cost for exactly the rows and fields you picked before you confirm. The sample list itself can't be enriched.
How much does it cost to try ListPlus?#
Looking at the sample list is free; in your own list, importing a file costs credits, checks, fixes, evaluations and exporting cost none, and most enrichment lookups are only charged when they find something. Enriching 5 contacts with Company and Email typically uses only part of the starting credits; a mobile number (charged per hit) can use more. All prices are in "Price list: what every action costs".
Can I try ListPlus without signing up?#
You can browse the app without an account and open the shared sample list with its checks; creating your own list, editing or enriching data requires a free account (email address + one-time code, no credit card). A new account comes with starting credits — enough to import a list, run the free quality checks and enrich a few contacts.
Is there a guided tour of the app?#
No tour starts by itself — click the round Help button (a question mark) in the bottom-right corner of a main view instead. It lists short step-by-step guides for the view you are in and ticks off the ones you opened. If you hid the button, choose Help in the search (⌘K / Ctrl+K) or in the menu at your avatar.
What should I do after trying the sample list?#
Click Create your own list in the sample banner and import your own file — drag it onto the New List page or pick it with the file picker, which also costs credits — or try Person Search to look up one specific contact. From there the same steps apply: check, fix, evaluate, enrich and export — edits are saved automatically.
