Recipes: common ListPlus workflows

Updated Markdown

These are short, numbered paths through ListPlus for common goals. Each step names the exact place to click and points to the topic with the full detail — no new facts here, just the order to do things in. If your goal isn't below, start with "First steps by goal" or "Which finder do I use?" instead.

1. Prepare a cold-email campaign#

  1. Get your contacts in: import a file or build an audience in Segment Search ("Create a list and import a file", "Segment Search: the audience database").
  2. In the list header click Find & evaluate, choose Cold Email, and use the cockpit bar's ready / enrichable / unusable counts ("Is my list ready for cold email, CRM, or cold calling?").
  3. Fix format issues (typos, duplicates, invalid emails) — "Fix and Fix all", "Finding and merging duplicates", "Email quality checks and verification".
  4. Enrich the enrichable rows for a verified email — "Find a verified email address".
  5. Send the ready rows to your sequencer — "Sending contacts to Lemlist, Instantly and Smartlead".

2. Clean a HubSpot export and push updates back#

  1. Bring the export in: import the CSV, or connect HubSpot directly (needs Premium) — "Create a list and import a file", "Connecting a CRM, spreadsheet or other app".
  2. Run the checks and clean up duplicates and format issues — "What the Analyze panel checks and how the quality score works", "Finding and merging duplicates", "Fix and Fix all".
  3. Fill any gaps you want enriched — "How enrichment works".
  4. Push the cleaned values back: on a list connected to HubSpot, apply any open AI suggestions and click Write to HubSpot in the Changes panel ("Keeping a connected list in sync", "Setting up how changes push back to your source"); on a list imported from a CSV, use Export → HubSpot → Contacts Only, which creates or updates contacts ("Exporting to HubSpot and Google Sheets").

3. Find decision makers at 50 target accounts#

  1. Open Segment Search and set the Company filter to your target accounts (names or websites) plus a Job title filter for the roles you want (e.g. VP, Director, Head of) — "Segment Search: the audience database", "How Segment Search filters work".
  2. Click Search Contacts (credits are charged per page of up to 25) and review the results table.
  3. Tick the rows you want and click Add To List — with nothing ticked, ListPlus asks how many to add (the ones loaded, a number, or all).

4. Turn event or Zoom attendees into leads#

  1. Import the attendee list as a file, or connect Zoom (needs the Pro plan) to pull a webinar's Registrants or Participants directly — "Create a list and import a file", "Connecting a CRM, spreadsheet or other app".
  2. Run the checks and remove duplicates — "What the Analyze panel checks and how the quality score works", "Finding and merging duplicates".
  3. Enrich for company, job title and a verified email — "How enrichment works".
  4. Export or send the finished list onward — "Exporting your list".

5. Enrich inbound leads from a form#

  1. Give the list its own webhook: in the list click Set up in the header → Webhook → Create webhook, and point your form tool or a Zapier/Make/n8n step at the URL. Submissions land in the matching columns, free — "List webhooks: receive records from forms and tools".
  2. Every submission goes into the list by default. To keep test entries, spam and invalid emails out, tick the Hold back options in the webhook panel; those records then wait in the Inbox for Add anyway or Discard. If your form can only notify you by e-mail, forward that e-mail to your Inbox address instead and click Recognize contacts (costs credits per run) — "The Inbox".
  3. Run the checks and enrich for the fields you need — "What the Analyze panel checks and how the quality score works", "How enrichment works".
  4. Continue as with any list: dedupe, export or sync onward — or hand the finished contacts to a pipeline (recipe 7).
  5. To have this run without anyone clicking, set up two triggers in the list (Triggers in the list header): one with a record is new in the list and the action Enrich (choose the fields, a budget per record and the fill mode), and one with a record is new or was changed and the conditions a finished lead meets (for example a verified e-mail) that hands it to your CRM or Slack pipeline. Set that pipeline's Release to Automatic. The trigger template Enrich, then pass on sets up both: step 1 enriches new decision makers' e-mails, and after you save it, step 2 opens to pass them to the pipeline you pick — "Triggers — hand records on automatically" and "Pipelines — send records on to your CRM, Slack, e-mail or API".

6. Get alerts when customers change jobs#

  1. For an ongoing check: put the people on the Watchlist (open their profile, or add them from the Inbox), tick them on the Watchlist page and click Set alert → Job change (costs credits per contact and month; checking daily costs more than weekly). ListPlus reports a new company, a new role or that the person left; pick a pipeline under Send news to if the news should go to Slack or your CRM by itself — "The Watchlist (saved contacts)".
  2. For a one-off check of a list: import or connect your customer/contact list — "Create a list and import a file", "Connecting a CRM, spreadsheet or other app".
  3. Run Detect Company Changes (Enrich menu, AI Analysis group; free), or the Detect Job Changes wizard (Enrich menu → ENRICHMENT WIZARDS) for a fresh check: it verifies the email (charged per clear result) and re-fetches the LinkedIn profile (charged per profile found) — "Detecting job changes". Both are one-off checks that you repeat yourself whenever you want an update; flagged rows show the old and new company in the record panel under "Signals".

7. Notify your team about new leads#

  1. Click Flows in the left rail, then + beside Goes out · Pipelines in its left column, and create a pipeline with the target your team reads — for example Notify your team in Slack, or a Team email digest to members of your workspace (see "Pipelines — send records on to your CRM, Slack, e-mail or API"). Owners and admins set pipelines up.
  2. In a list, on the Watchlist or in a contact's detail view, click Add → Send to pipeline and pick the pipeline.
  3. Open the pipeline and click Send to release the waiting entries, or set its Release to Automatic so they go out by themselves. A pipeline to a connected tool such as Slack needs Pro. Every record a pipeline delivers costs credits — the price depends on the target (a CRM costs more than a Slack message, your own webhook least; see the price list); only the Team email digest and handing records to another list are free.
  4. To do it by itself, use the trigger template Notify your team in the list: new decision makers with a business e-mail go to your Slack pipeline and get the status "Qualified" — "Trigger templates".

FAQ#

How do I prepare a cold-email campaign?#

Import or build your list, check it against the Cold Email evaluation, fix format issues and duplicates, enrich the enrichable rows for a verified email, then send the ready rows to your sequencer. See "Is my list ready for cold email, CRM, or cold calling?" and "Sending contacts to Lemlist, Instantly and Smartlead" for the details of each step.

How do I clean a HubSpot export and push updates back?#

Import the export (or connect HubSpot directly — needs Premium), run the checks, remove duplicates and fix issues, enrich any gaps, then push the cleaned values back: Write to HubSpot in the Changes panel on a connected list, or Export → HubSpot → Contacts Only on an imported one. See "Connecting a CRM, spreadsheet or other app", "Finding and merging duplicates" and "Exporting to HubSpot and Google Sheets".

How do I find decision makers at a list of target accounts?#

In Segment Search, set the Company filter to your target accounts (names or domains) together with a Job title filter for the roles you want, run the search, and add the matching rows to a list. See "Segment Search: the audience database" and "How Segment Search filters work" for how the Company and Job title filters combine.

How do I turn event or Zoom attendees into leads?#

Import the attendee list as a file, or connect Zoom to pull a webinar's Registrants or Participants directly, then run checks, dedupe and enrich the list like any other. See "Connecting a CRM, spreadsheet or other app" for what Zoom can import and "How enrichment works" for filling in the gaps.

How do I enrich inbound leads from a form?#

Give the list its own webhook (in the list: Set up → Webhook → Create webhook) and point your form tool or a Zapier, Make or n8n step at the URL: submissions land in the matching columns for free, and with a Hold back option ticked, spam, test entries and invalid emails wait in the Inbox instead; then run the checks and enrich the fields you need. See "List webhooks: receive records from forms and tools"; if the form can only send e-mail, forward it to your Inbox address and use Recognize contacts instead.

Can inbound leads be enriched and sent to my CRM or Slack automatically?#

Yes. A list webhook or a form brings the lead into a list; a trigger with "a record is new in the list" and the action Enrich fills its missing fields, and a second trigger whose conditions a finished lead meets (for example a verified e-mail) hands it to your CRM or Slack pipeline. With the pipeline's Release set to Automatic nobody has to click; connected targets need Pro (HubSpot: Premium).

How do I get alerts when customers change jobs?#

For an ongoing check, tick the people on the Watchlist page and click Set alert → Job change (costs credits per contact and month; checking daily costs more than weekly): ListPlus reports a new company, a new role or that the person left, optionally straight into a pipeline. In a list, Detect Company Changes (free) and the paid Detect Job Changes wizard stay one-off checks you run yourself. See "Detecting job changes" for what each option does and costs.

How do I notify my team about new leads?#

Set up a pipeline in Flows (the "+" beside Goes out · Pipelines) with a Slack channel or a Team email digest to your workspace members as the target, then add contacts from a list, the Watchlist or the contact view with Add → Send to pipeline. Entries wait in the pipeline until someone clicks Send (or go out by themselves if the pipeline's Release is set to Automatic); each delivered Slack message costs credits per record, the Team email digest is free. Only owners and admins of a workspace can create pipelines; every member can add and send entries.

What if my use case isn't one of these recipes?#

Start with "First steps by goal" to find the right topic for what you're trying to do, or "Which finder do I use?" if you're not sure whether Person Search, Segment Search or AI Research fits your situation best.
