Ignoring vs. deleting rows

Updated Markdown

ListPlus has two separate ways to take a row out of your work: ignoring (Ignorieren), which is reversible and keeps the data, and deleting, which removes the row from the list.

Ignoring rows#

Select one or more rows and choose Ignore selected records in the selection bar's ⋯ menu, or right-click a row and choose Ignore N Row(s). Ignored rows disappear from every view of the list, including the Open working view (see "Record statuses and the working view (Open / All)") — ignoring is the stronger of the two: unlike a "done" status, an ignored row is also skipped by analysis, triggers and enrichment. To find them again, click the Ignored chip (Ignoriert) in the status bar at the bottom of the grid, or run Show Ignored Rows from Commands (⌘K) — clicking the chip again, or Show All Rows, brings the normal view back. Ignoring rows saves itself automatically in the background.

Restoring ignored rows#

In the ignored-rows view, select the rows and click Restore, or right-click and choose Restore N Row(s). This is also saved automatically — the rows are back in your normal views immediately.

Deleting rows#

Select rows and choose Delete from the selection bar's ⋯ menu, or right-click and choose Delete N Row(s). The rows disappear right away and the deletion is saved automatically about a second later. To bring them back, click Undo in the list header or press ⌘Z / Ctrl+Z — the rows return complete, in the same place, including their enrichment data. Undo only reaches back within the same session: after you switch lists or reload the page, deleted rows can't be brought back.

Deleting rows is only available if the list allows it — see "Set up: what a list can do, and its settings" for the Allow deleting rows toggle (Set up → Permissions). If it's off, no Delete option appears in the selection bar or the right-click menu.

Cost#

Ignoring, restoring and deleting rows are all free.

FAQ#

What's the difference between ignoring and deleting a row?#

Ignoring takes a row out of every view but keeps its data — you can bring it back anytime with Restore. Deleting removes the row from the list (saved automatically); Undo brings it back until you switch lists or reload the page.

How do I ignore rows?#

Select the rows, then open the selection bar's ⋯ menu and click Ignore selected records, or right-click a row and choose Ignore N Row(s). Ignored rows disappear from every view immediately, including the Open working view, and save automatically — no need to click Save.

Where do ignored rows go, and how do I find them again?#

Click the Ignored chip in the status bar at the bottom of the grid, or run Show Ignored Rows from Commands (⌘K). Click the chip again, or run Show All Rows, to return to your normal view.

How do I restore an ignored row?#

Open the ignored-rows view (the Ignored chip in the status bar, or Show Ignored Rows from Commands), select the rows, and click Restore — or right-click and choose Restore N Row(s). This saves automatically too.

Do I need to click Save after ignoring or restoring rows?#

No — there is no Save button; ignoring and restoring both sync to the server automatically in the background, like every edit in a list.

How do I delete rows, and can I undo it?#

Select the rows and choose Delete from the selection bar's ⋯ menu, or right-click and choose Delete N Row(s). The deletion is saved automatically; click Undo in the list header or press ⌘Z / Ctrl+Z to bring the rows back complete, in the same place. After you switch lists or reload the page, undo is no longer possible and the deletion is permanent.

Why don't I see a Delete option for my rows?#

Deleting is only available when the list allows it. Check Set up → Permissions → Allow deleting rows (Set up is the two sliders next to the list's name); if it's switched off, no Delete option appears for anyone on that list.

What's the difference between ignoring a row and marking its status "done"?#

Ignoring is stronger: an ignored row disappears from every view, including Open and All, and is skipped by analysis, triggers and enrichment. A "done" status only leaves the Open working view — the record still shows under All and is still seen by analysis, triggers and enrichment; see "Record statuses and the working view (Open / All)."
